ACCESSIBLE TEXAS, dba Jay Heilman, was established in 1998 to assist its clients to comply with TAS (Texas Accessible Standards) which sets the standard for accessibility for places of public accommodation and commercial facilities for individuals with disabilities.

These standards are to be applied during the design, construction, and alterations of such building and facilities to the extent required by Regulations issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations, under the Architectural Barriers Act, codified as Chapter 469, of the Texas Government Code.

ACCESSIBLE TEXAS’s goal is to assist Property Owners, Property Management Firms, Design Professionals, Contractors and other affected parties in understanding and complying with TAS.

Specialized Services

We tailor services to fit a variety of client’s needs. We provide consultations for questions pertaining to conceptual projects and identify potential obstacles.

We conduct assessments to assist potential property purchases to understand what cost may be incurred to bring their new property in compliance. We conduct assessments for publicly funded agencies to compile and document their efforts to budget and fund projects for removal of architectural barriers to improve access.

We conduct preliminary inspections for multi-faceted projects to assist contractors in identifying potential or actual non-compliant elements which can be corrected prior to our final TAS inspection.

We’ve Got You Covered

We office in the heart of the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex but we travel the State of Texas to serve our clients needs from Texarkana to El Paso, Amarillo to Brownsville, and all points in between for no additional cost. Our out-of-town, overnight, lodging, meals, and mileage expenses are not passed on to the property owners. After driving more than 30,000 miles per year, it shows our commitment to accessibility efforts!
